I serve as our school’s National Delegate to the Medical Student Section and I am also serving my second year as Region 5 Membership Chair. Through my work in the AMA I hope to help get more students involved and make an impact in policy. I have previously written about how I became involved in the AMA and I hope to remain active throughout my time at medical school and after I graduate.
I am currently working on resolutions for the upcoming Interim meeting in November. If you are interested in getting involved in one or would like to discuss the issue further please contact me. I am focused on:
- Equalizing End of Life Care for People with Intellectual Disabilities
- Prevent Denial of Care/Coverage for Patients who Use PrEP
- Oppose The Use of Contingent Electric Shocks on People with Disabilities
- End Barriers to Access to Opioid Treatment
- End Punitive Measures for Pregnant Women Who Use Drugs
- Support The Widespread Distribution of Naloxone Boxes Throughout the Country
- Enhance Protections Against Prosecution for Psychiatrists
- Protect People Who Use Drugs from Prosecution in the Event of Overdose
- Support Expansion of the Scope of Good Samaritan Laws
